I can't quite believe it's July already.  Not only that, but I can't believe that on the 28th July it will be a whole year since I started my blogging journey!  Time has absolutely flown - which just goes to show that time really does fly when you're having fun!

Seriously though, I don't know how I ever lived outside of blogland...such a wonderful place, filled with creative souls, passion aplenty and opportunities galore.  A beautiful blog friend of mine, Florentina, calls herself "the girl saved by the blog".  I think we must be "blog soul mates" as I believe I too have been "saved by the blog".

Ever since my Breast Cancer diagnosis in 2009, my focus has been on chasing the lovely in life.  There is enough of the "unlovely" to deal with throughout our lives, so why dwell on those things when we don't have to?  As much as I can, I've chosen to dwell on the beautiful, the delightful and the harmonious, which has been a wonderful aid in my healing; not only physically, but spiritually and emotionally as well.  I'm determined to reach for the stars in all aspects of my life, now that I truly believe that all things are possible!

Who knows what the future holds for me?

My faith certainly tells me that I've been created for a purpose.  Is writing this blog part of my purpose?  Yes, I think it is.  Does writing this blog bring me joy?  Yes, it really does.  Will I be blogging forever?  Well, my hope is that I live to a ripe old age and am able to continue using my mind, heart and hands for the many purposes in my life, one of which is writing.

Having said all that, I now need to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of you - those I know are reading my blog and those I don't.  It means the world to me that you would take time out of your busy lives to read what little old me has to say!  Thank you for being part of my healing journey.  Thank you that so many of you have been my greatest encouragers.  Thank you for making it so easy to "catch" the lovely and my "chasing" after it hasn't been in vain!

Now to celebrate my joyous Blogiversary, I'm so excited to announce my very first GIVEAWAY!

After a year of "Life's like a Cupcake!" I now have a reputation for loving all things cupcake and food-related.  It makes my day whenever I get a random cupcake photo sent to me on my mobile, or an email letting me in on a new recipe.  It's nice that people think of me whenever they see something sweet or delicious!  So you can imagine my delight when I was recently given the opportunity to review the "Little Kitchen Hands" pack from the Reckitt Benckiser and Dettol "Mission for Health" campaign!

As you know, I love to bake healthy treats for my family, particularly on the school holidays when I bake with my daughter (and my son gets to lick the bowl and spoon before we wash up!)  So I was very pleased when my product pack arrived just in time for our holiday baking.  What the kids were really excited about though, was that they were finally getting the Dettol No-Touch Hand Wash System they'd been pestering me about for weeks!

I was going to buy it for them, but I just hadn't got around to it yet.  After all, I'm one of those neurotic health-conscious Mums, who is forever pulling out the hand sanitiser in public to embarrass my kids kill any germs that may have clung to my kids, and forever spraying Glen 20 around the house to kill all that nasty bacteria because I love the smell.  So as soon as I opened the box I had two volunteers to set up the  Hand Wash System on my kitchen bench, ready to go!

This pack literally put me in "health heaven".  Not only could I continue my battle against bacteria (particularly in winter when the cold and cough germs are lurking en masse), but I could also ensure my kids were going to be eating healthy treats over the coming days.  Just look at the size of that box...

Here is a list of exactly what we unpacked.  (It was like an early Christmas present):

·         Mixing bowl
·         Cookie sheets
·         Kitchen scales
·         Cookie jar filled with cookies
·         $50 grocery gift card to purchase our desired ingredients
·         Mum plus child rolling pins
·         Child apron and chef hat pack
·         Mum chef hat and apron
·         Decorating supplies – amazing edible glitter, letters of the alphabet etc
·         Handy wipe-clean recipe cards (with a variety of deliciously healthy recipes)
·         Dettol Surface Cleanser Trigger & Wipes
·         Dettol No-Touch Stainless Steel look handwash system
·         Dettol 50ml Instant Hand Sanitiser
·         Glen 20 spray disinfectant
·         Pine-O-Cleen Wipes and Trigger

The baking team consisted of myself and my beautiful daughter and niece.  Once the box was all unpacked, we got straight into it...aprons and hats on, hands and benches sanitised and dance moves down pat!

The actual baking was great fun too...

And the end result was fun and colourfully delicious...

We had such a great time that the very next day, we organised another little helper (our gorgeous friend Georgie) to come over to make another batch of cookies...

End result...yummy and good for you!

Okay, now for some giveaway fun for you!  One of my lucky readers will have the opportunity to win a "Little Kitchen Hands" pack of their very own, valued at $450!

The competition is open until 17th July, and all you have to do to enter is:

  • Follow this blog publicly by using "Google Friend Connect" (see right hand side of blog)
  • Comment on this post telling me why you'd like to win.

The winner will be chosen by and notified on 18th July.  Please link your email up to comments so I can get your postal address if you win.  If I am unable to contact the winner within 7 days, I will redraw.  Please note: Australian entries only - so sorry to my lovely overseas readers!

Disclosure:  I received a complimentary "Little Kitchen Hands" pack courtesy of Maverick PR.  No financial payment was offered nor accepted for this post.  All opinions expressed are my own.

First and foremost gorgeous Jennifer, my heartfelt thanks that you started opened your fabulous blogging space a year ago.

You truly are a glittering treasure in the Blogiverse and I'm so pleased to have 'met' you.

Secondly congratulations on all that you have achieved with and through your blog throughout the previous twelve months, this really is a space for recognising & celebrating the lovely elements in life.

Thirdly the photos of kitchen dancing are a terrific example of my second point.

And finally,,,it would be such a joy to win this generous prize to not only bring my little kitchen hands into the kitchen more often [one loves to bake, the other two would be my targets!] but to make hand washing a more enticing proposition for the littlest 'Gift' [a remind-all-the-time boy!].

Happy day gorgeous you, enjoy your cupcake with a #1 candle upon it.

xx Felicity

Isn't it funny how much joy can be found in a cardboard box sometimes!! Love your pics!!! I could use some fun in the kitchen! Baking new things is the best. It's sort of a little adventure, you never know how it will turn out. Sometimes it seems all I do is make the same things over and over, and usually there's not much time to do it. Unfortunately I'm a bit of a neat freak too, so those supplies would be right up my alley. Great job on the blog! Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary!! Yay!!!

I just spent an hour cleaning up after the kids and I couldn't be happier! You see, the mess I was cleaning up was a result of my three little munchikins cooking endeavours. I sat at my desk working and listened to them co-operate, take turns, help each other and have fun baking some muffins..then decorating and eating them! What a joy to see my children doing something that I have always loved and found great pleasure in. It would be so wonderful to win this fantastic prize to share in more of these experiences and special memories that I will cherish forever!!

Congratulations on your 1st year anniversary Jen, you are really an inspiration and message of hope. What a beautiful the pictures too.

I have just followed (Monique N). I would love to win because I have 4 and 5 year old sons, who apart from being very grotty (Dettol products coming in very handy there), are becoming very interested in helping in the kitchen. And as a savvy Mum, I want to encourage that as much as possible (can't wait until they can cook a meal on their own hehe). Congrats on your blogiversary!! Monique xx

I'd love to win because my 5 yr old twins love cooking and licking the bowl.

You blog sounds very inspirational and healing. My husband had a rare malignant tumour /cancer 12 months ago .Chasing the lovely and less traveled road (less stressful) is our philosophy motivation in life too.

Oh I would love to win because I have a little 8 year old girl who absolutely loves learning to cook and bake and she has even openned her own "cafe" in the corner of the lounge room where we order from the menu and she delivers the "goodies".
I'm sure she could use some extra tools in her imaginary kitchen, and would look amazingly cute wearing a little apron.
It would also give me a good excuse to write a couple of kid friendly cookie recipes for her to make on her own. She would love that!

Congrats on your Blogiversary! I thought I was the only mum who is obsessed with sanitizing & disinfecting! Thank you for this amazing giveaway. I'd like to win this so I can continue being psychotic in keeping germs away from my family & getting my toddler baking to be a Masterbaker, in case they come up with such a reality show. :)

I just want to say "Happy Blogaversary!"

A year ago? Wow! Amazing how time flies and what a fantastic blog it is. Cannot wait to see what the next year will bring :)

Firstly, I have just had a baby boy and am now a stay at home Mum. I have only just discovered blogs and am loving reading yours- inspirational! I couldn't help but share it with my Mum who has also been diagnosed with breast cancer, but 3 times over 20 years.
Why would I like to win the pack? Simple- it would be perfect to share with my family (Mum, Dad, their 4 daughters, 4 son in laws and 7 grandchildren) and Mum's 'dragon boat' family. They built a boat to celebrate living and as a way of supporting each other. They run regattas and meet on a regular basis. What a supper I could create for Mum to share with them to show them we value their friendship and support.
